John McLaren Blows His Top after the Mariners finish up a 4 game losing streak making them the worst team in baseball. They are sitting with a .350 average with a 3-7 record in their last 10 games and 15.5 games out of first place.

Team president Chuck Armstrong attached members of the coaching staff, including manager John McLaren prior to them losing a 3 games to the Angels. After the game, John McLaren blew his top. He began shouting and jabbing his finger toward the clubhouse. McLaren released an expletive-filled rampage, trying to explain that his team is trying hard but needs to be performing a much better. John McLaren then stomped off into his office and closed the door.

This is John McLaurens first year as a major league manager, but according to the Mariners office his job still safe. The Mariners have the 9th highest payroll in the Major Leagues, so there is definetly a point of frustration here.

McLaren quoted as saying ““People want to see some results. They’ve had it. And rightfully so,” Anybody that’s happy in our clubhouse, there’s something wrong with him. … We bragged about how good we were. … We need to pick it up now. I can’t make it any clearer than that.”

John McLaren obviously his work cut out for him. No team with an average as low as the Mariners has ever come back to make the playoffs that same year. I imagine they would let him finish out the season, but if he dosn’t make significant improvements then he will most likely be replaced in the off season.
