It was just released this morning that the jobless rate jumped to 5.5 percent and payrolls are down by 49,000 jobs. Does this signify a stronger push toward a recession? In my own personal experience I have seen my own company downsize by 20% and there are no signs of us looking to expand yet.

Look at all the factors. Housing prices are still down. Home foeclosures are at a record level. Unemployment and jobless claims are increasing. Our country is at war and the debt it still mounting. The 2008 tax rebate put us into more debt and there are no signs yet that it helped stimulate the economy as it was planned to do. Gas prices are at crazy levels. The cost of food is increasing. Oh and salay levels are up about 2% nationally in the past 4 years.

You take all those things, shake them up and add a little salt and it can’t make anything good. We need to start focusing on what is the right thing to do. Can we scrap all those needless government programs and use that money to pay down the debt? Do we really need to continue building the space station when we as a country are going broke? It is frustrating that in Bush’s last 8 years we are in a downward spiral and no one really knows how to get out of it.

Remeber the last 2 elections where the hot topics were Social Security and Medicare? What happened to that? Is it fixed? No!. I am tired of these candidates that use whatever means to get the presidency than start working on their own agenda once they sit down in the office chair. As for who to vote for this year? I live in Illinois and Obama hardly votes in the Sentate since he is too busy campaigning. We are paying him to do nothing right now. As for McCain? He seems like one of the Bush good-ole-boys to me. Looks like we are in for another great 4 years. I just hope this country can survive it.
