The National Indian Foundation has reported that one of the last uncontacted indian tribes has been found in far western Amazon jungle near the Peruvian border. José Carlos dos Reis Meirelles Júnior did flights over their homes so that he could snap pictures of them. In some of the pictures you can see one indian painted completely orange and nother was blue from head to toe. The also were armed with a bow and arrow and were aiming at the aircraft over head.

The National Indian Foundation has said that this tribe is currently at risk due to illegal logging efforts in the area near the tribes home. The National Indian Foundation has also said that efforts need to be put in place to stop the logging to help preserve the tribe from coming close to extinction.

It amazes me that in this somewhat civilized world, there are still groups of people that live in the amazon and survive without any interaction with others outside their tribe. I mean, I would die if I didn’t have my blackberry with me. It is also very interesting to see that the tribe members were going to shoot arrows at the airplane, not grasping that it probably wouldn’t really do any harm.

Regardless of how uncivilized the tribe is, I agree with th The National Indian Foundation in the fact that deforestation needs to stop, if not just to preserve the environment, but also to preserve this tribe’s way of life. How would you like it if someone came into your home, kicked you out and then tore down your house. We all need to protect what is ours, and for those that can’t protect themselves, others need to step in and help.

Hopefully some day we can learn more about these uncontacted tribes and learn how they have survived for so long, and hey, they don’t even need oil!!!
