This incident was a suprise to many I am sure, but I can’t imagine nothing like this hasn’t happened before. Plus, the weapons weren’t armed at the time, so the danger of actually having a nuclear explsion if the plane were to go down in very slim. With the amount of arms being transported across the world I am amazed that these guys were actually fired for it. You would have a bigger diaster with a amry helicpoter falling out of the sky and hitting homes than an unarmed nuclear weapon crashing to the ground. But when you say the word nuclear, the protesters come out of the woodwork.
In this potically correct world we are looking for a scape goat and Michael Moseley and Michael Wynne seem to be the current ones. In response to questions why they were being let go, Robert Gates said “…other leadership issues also factored into Moseley’s and Wynne’s pending dismissals.” So maybe this was the time to let them go if they had wanted to prior.
